Shéri wrote a book about her life. It was a proposal by Maretha Maartens, motivated with wise insight after hours of discussions with Shéri, that convinced Lux Verbi of the idea. Lux Verbi then commissioned Colleen Naudé to write the manuscript. The book will be launched in Afrikaans and English on 14 October 2017 in Cape Town and on the 19th October in Bloemfontein.
This is the first time a person with Down syndrome wrote a manuscript about their life, themselves.
She wanted to tell the world in her own words how she experiences her life, living with Down syndrome. Her mother will also share her emotional growth, travelling her road of life with Sheri.
The book was nominated for the The Andrew Murray-Desmond Tutu prize. This prize acknowledges Christian and theological publications in an official South African language.
On 13 March 2019 a book discussion with Sheri about her book, Sheri…just the way I am, will be done by Deon Meyer, well-known writer in South Africa, in the Drosdy Theatre in Stellenbosch.
